Breastfeeding - what I wish someone had told me

I had no idea it would be so hard to stop breastfeeding. Just after B was born I thought to myself; well I breastfeed her for a couple of weeks and then I"ll see if I want to continue or not. I seriously thought that I could decide when to stop breastfeeding. But oh no, how wrong I was haha.

These are some of the things I wish somebody would have told me about:

  • You do not decide when to stop breastfeeding
  • Your nipples will get very sore and bleed for the first 2 weeks
  • Your boobs will look humongous (a positive for some I guess)
  • You will have to wear a nursing bra 24/7
  • You also have to wear nipple pads 24/7
  • Sometimes you smell like sour milk
  • There is a risk your outfit will get sprayed down with boob milk
  • There is a risk everything around you will get sprayed with milk
  • You are like a walking feeding machine and have to be available almost all the time
  • It is very hard to jog or jump with heavy, milk filled boobs

I know, I know that it is very good to breast feed but you really get restricted in what you can do. I would still have started to breastfeed her even if somebody had informed me about all these things. Perhaps I would have tried pumping milk into bottles from the beginning so she got used to bottle feeding...It is however better now since she is eating baby food and she does drink a little bit from various bottles that I have. Some she likes more than others (will write about that later).

Ok moms and dads out there, got to go
Happy holidays!!!!!
